Habits

I used to be in a great habit of updating my blog. Now with facebook, twitter, my new photography venture, my blog is now neglected. Things happen in our lives and as of lately I’ve just been posting them over on facebook rather over here. Now I need to get back in the habit of blogging again. I need to do that because this is my version of a scrapbook for my kids. It documents all their milestones, struggles, excitement, and firsts.

So here is a quick update of our going ons. Summer has gone by so fast. We’ve done a lot of fun things. Mostly trips to the park and the pool. The boys started swimming lessons on Monday. Gavin has been talking about them all summer. He’s having a blast! Keaton is doing a Tot and mom class with me. He’s learned to put his head under water and to float on his back. I will snap some pictures tomorrow hopefully.

Keaton is now officially registered for preschool. Which means I have another month to really tackle his pooping issues. He has really regressed when it comes to pooping on the potty. He used to be great at it, now, not at all. I am not sure why potty training is so hard at our house, but it is.

Gavin is doing so well on his potty training. His pooping is hit or miss. But he’s getting there. He’s just becoming so grown up these days. Sometimes I forget he has Autism. He is speaking so well and doing so much. He’s just awesome!

Well That’s it for now. I am going to work harder to make sure I document our going ons from now on.
I will leave you with this cute picture of the boys enjoying a summer day!

Happy 5th Anniversary to us!

One half decade ago today,  I married my partner in crime. Its so strange that its been five years. Part of me feels like we’ve been at this for twice as long, and another part can’t believe we’ve been together that long. I think this year has been the best so far. I think it has a lot to do with our kids growing up and not being as needy. We’ve spent nearly every day of our marriage, sans the 2 months before Gavin was born, taking care of helpless kids. We’ve never gotten to spend much one on one time together. Now that our kids  are getting older and are no longer in that stage where they stick every choke hazardous piece of whatever they find on the carpet in their mouths,  we can actually leave them unattended and enjoy our marriage for a change. It’s been nice to get to know each other again. It seems like we are finally out of this fog we’ve been in.

It also helps that I have had a lot of exposure to how other women’s husbands act this past year. Its put a lot of things into perspective for me. The first being that I might just have the worlds most fabulous husband, and I should stop taking him for granite. He may not do laundry or dishes like I want him too. He may bitch every time I ask him to get me a soda from the fridge or for a foot massage. But he works his ass off supporting our family with 60 hour work weeks,  so that I can stay home with my boys. He is always willing to watch the kids and give me time away. He always jumps in to help with the boys, he doesn’t even mind wiping tushies. He loves to do immature things with me, yes we are too old to go port-a-john tipping and to do drive by moonings, but we still do it. He always lets me pick the movie we see or the restaurant we eat in. He’s so funny and makes me laugh all the time. We have a blast together and truly and honestly he is my best friend. I am spoiled to have him as a husband.

So, happy anniversary Honey. Here’s to 60 more years of enjoying life! I love you.

Psst…

I don’t want to jinx this, but….Gavin has made poop on the potty 3 days in a ROW! He’s been fully in underwear for the past 2 weeks and is completely pee trained, minus a few accidents when he’s playing and doesn’t want to get up to pee. He independently goes potty without us telling him to. He is fully night trained and wakes up himself to pee in the middle of the night if he needs to go.  It has finally clicked for him. I am so stoked!!! Its been almost a solid year since we started potty training. Well I have started and stopped a couple of times over the last couple of years. But its been a year since we started training him for real. Its been a long journey but I think he almost has it.

Now I just have to work with Keaton a little to get him to make all his poops in the potty. He’s had a little bit of regression with the pooping. I have six weeks to get him fully trained because we have signed him up for preschool this fall. I can’t believe both my boys will be in school! Sometimes I feel like Keaton was just born. Its so hard to believe how big he is.

4-eyes and Elder Grotegut

A couple of days ago Gavin’s primary teacher from church dropped off his weekly lesson. We don’t attend church but she always drops off the lesson they did anyway. Well I guess this weeks lesson was on preparing for an LDS mission (Latter day saint, aka mormon) and they made badges for all the kids. Gavin’s say’s Elder Grotegut and he won’t take the thing off. He says he is Elder Grotegut and that his badge is a “Bakery Badge”. He apparently runs a bakery I didn’t know about. According to him its super successful too. I asked him about his profit margins and he seemed to know what I was talking about because he said they sell a lot of donuts to “guys with big bellies”. He must makes a killing then! Here is a picture of his “Bakery Badge”.

Yesterday I put Gav’s glasses on Keaters and took these adorable pictures:

He looks like he has down syndrome in them hehe. He’s so cute!

At 12:18am Saturday morning my laptop, sally-jean, passed away. I had known she was having health problems for months now. It started with her failing wireless card back in January. She had had a successful wireless card transplant in February of 2008, but it only lasted a year. Her keyboard was malfunctioning on and off. Sometimes I could get it to type numbers, other times it just did nothing. A few months ago the battery was starting to go. I could only leave it unplugged for 8 minutes before it would shut itself off. To add to all of that she was constantly freezing up, would not come out of sleep mode, and it took 11 minutes to boot up.

So it should not have come as a surprise Saturday night when we got back from a BBQ at my parents, that she would not turn on. The screen was black and she’d power on for a minute, screen black, and then just reboot. After some investigating we narrowed it down to the viedo card, which just so happens to be integrated on the motherboard. After adding up the cost to fix everything that was wrong with her, we decided it was cheaper just to get a new one. My new baby will arrive sometime this week! I am giddy!

Although I am super stoked to get a new laptop, I never had a chance to backup pictures from the last couple of months. I had lost the cord to my external hard drive when we got a new computer desk back in Marc. Being the procrastinate I am, I didn’t end up ordering a new corn until a couple of weeks ago. When it arrived i had every intention of transferring everything over. I even started but then my computer froze and I said “I’ll just do it later”. Luckily the hard drive is still in good shape, so I will just have to swap it out with the new one and pull everything off. Well at least I hope that is that easy, we’ll see. Lesson learned people, always back up your crap.

Goodbye Sally-Jean, have a great time in the big network in the sky.

Better late than never

I finally uploaded the video of Gavin’s preschool performance to my dropshots. Its pretty long and I didn’t edit it down. So I am pretty sure the only people who will make it all the way through it are grandparents and other extended family. It reall yis cute though. Gavin was singing the loudest most of the time. He really has come a far way from last year where he flat out refused to even sit with his class for the performance.

anyway, without further ado I give you Gavin singing and such:

The 4th

My blog has been severely neglected lately. Its been slapped on the back-burner while I try to find my sanity. I wanted to post about what a fun 4th of July we had though. We hosted a BBQ at our house and invited our friends, my parents, and my brother Dan and his wife Kira (Whom I still haven’t blogged about. They were married last month). We had great food, a bucket of margarita mix, and the best people to drink said margaritas with.

We bought a huge box of lame fireworks and John and Kenny put a show on for us. Keaton was scared of the fireworks and eventually just passed out on top of his Grandma Bosko. The other kids had a blast with the sparklers and glow necklaces. Shanda took a bunch of pictures of the days events.

Shanda who made me that glow necklace as a token of her love and affection. Then tried to propose to me at the firework show. I had to say no cause John won’t let us take on a second wife.

My Little Dancers

As I mentioned before I enrolled Gavin and Keaton into the Youth Art festival this year. Gavin took a Dancing Superhero class and Keaton took creative dance. It ran an hour every day for 2-weeks and they loved it! Especially Keaton who took his class so seriously. I can’t believe how well he did. He was in love with his teacher and he’d do anything she told him to do. Such a change from home where I yell at him and he still doesn’t move. Keats is usually very sloth like. We still think he might have joint problems. So this dance class did wonders for him. I found out after the class ended that his teacher will be teaching a creative dance class in the fall, and I already signed Keaton up for it.Keaton’s class was too little to do an actual performance on stage. So they invited us in to come watch a little performance in their class. It was adorable, but my camera battery died 3 minutes into it. But you can at least see how adorable he was dancing.

Gavin also had a blast in his class. I didn’t get to watch his class much because he would get really distracted when I was in there. But his teacher said he was a great listener when I wasn’t there. He learned some very cool super hero  moves and had a great time goofing off with the other boys in the class. They got to perform in the sharing showcase last Friday night. They performed on stage in front of an auditorium filled with people. I was so proud of how well Gavin did. I thought he might be nervous to go on stage. Instead he actually went up on stage with another class of superheroes and tried to perform with them. It took his teacher a minute to realize he was not in that class and usher him back to his seat. It was pretty funny. He was awesome though, and he had such a great time!
