Fashion Confused

Sitting in the closet from a collection of Gavin’s old summer clothes, was a romper. Probably from two summers ago when I was still big into Gymboree. I don’t normally like rompers, especially for toddlers, but this one was cute and I thought what the hey, I will put it on Keaton. From the moment I slipped that thing over his head he seemed a little confused by its length. He kept insisting that it was a shirt and that it was too big for him and meant for “Gaddy-J”. I assured him that it wasn’t Gavin’s shirt, it was a romper for him. After I snapped up the crotch I stood him up and told him he was good to go. That is where the confusing deepened because he didn’t understand where his pants were.

Taking my picture

I am grateful for the grand imagination I was told my 3 1/2 year old would never display.

Nicknames

My kids have all kinds of nicknames. I seem to come up with a new favorite nickname for them every week. This week Gavin is Hobo, cause he has been whining SO MUCH so I told him he is acting like a Ho. John said we needed a more masculine nickname for him, so Hobo it is. Sometimes I call him Hobo Camp (Strangers with Candy fans will get that one). We are classy kindred. I am sure by the end of the week we will come up with something new to call him.

Although I come up with new ones there are those nickname that always stay steady. Keaton is always Keats or TT, although some weeks he is just a pain in my ass. The one I use most often for Gavin is Gavi-J. I’ve called him that nearly every day since he was born. Recently Keaton has started to call him that. I tell ya its the most tender thing in the world. Keaton has this little voice and doesn’t articulate very well. So it just warms my heart when I hear him say it. Today Gavin pushed Keaton so I made them kiss and make up. Gavin tells Keaton “I love you TT” and Keaton says “I Lube Ew Gaddy-J”.

And that folks, is the reason I keep them.

This just in…

Yeah I know this on again off again thing is plain ole obnoxious. However, its now safe to say for sure Keaton has Hand, Foot, and mouth disease. He has sores around his lips that are blister like. So I investigated a little more and looked into his mouth and I see blisters on his tongue. Keaton also has a few spots on his feet that had gone unnoticed until I decided to change his socks. He also has spots on his bum which I thought was just because I found there were Oranges in the popsicle he had last night. I used Dr. Google and found out that is HFMD as well.It appears Gavin might be getting it too. He has the same spots on his bum and that’s how Keaton’s started. Gavin always gets everything mild compared to Keaton.

The doctor office called around 5ish with some results of the culture they did of Keats throat. It was six when I got the message so they were out when I called them back. I was wondering why they were calling because they already did a strep culture, so maybe it has something to do with HFMD? Looks like we’ll be shut inside for the next 4-7 days. Which is fine since I am now sick with a sore throat and a hacking cough. Damn TB, or maybe its the 5 packs I smoke before breakfast? Off to clorox wipe the entire house and then get the hooligans off to bed.

I’m such a great influence

Well our new kitten, albeit a cute little thing, is a retard. He was doing fine with his kitty box training. Last weekend I think I told John he was the best kitten we’ve ever had. It always comes back to bite me I tell ya. This week he has completely forgotten what the hell he is doing. He pooped in the basement (which isn’t so bad since its a smelly cement basement anyway), he peed on the couch, and I caught him peeing on the kids Dora couch. Thanks to the makers of Natures Miracle and our carpet machine with upholstery tool, everything is clean and smelling pee free. I on the other hand am left hating cats and wondering why we keep them.

Errrr….

Just when I thought this mysterious fever was behind us (Gavin woke up completely fine yesterday), Keaton wakes up with a 102 temp! There goes our BBQ plans for memorial day. He spent the first hour of today sobbing uncontrollably. Although that might have been due to the fact that he nearly choked himself on a shirt he got stuck over his head. At least part of that is not feeling well. He is laying out on a pillow on the couch with his “Stah-berry shake” (strawberry milk). Hopefully this illness be as short lived as Gavin’s.

Update-

So by mid afternoon Keaton was back to his chipped self. So we loaded up and went to the BBQ. When he woke up this morning he was grouchy and a little warm. The weirdest thing is he acted like he had a mouth full of food he couldn’t swallow. I thought he might have found a snack or something in his crib. Who knows in this house. A few minutes later his mouth was still full. So I had him spit into the garbage (thinking it was something he couldn’t swallow), it was just saliva. His tongue looks a little white, and I am sure he has a sore throat. I hope its not HFMD cause he was around other kids yesterday. In my defense I thought he had what Gavin got which was nothing more than a fever. So he’s heading to the doctor in about an hour.

Yet another update-

Its not HFMD, or strep, but his throat is pussy and sore to say the least. His Ped even let me look in his throat, it was nasty. When he pulled the throat culture out it was green and bloody. Oh how I feel so bad for Keaton, I can’t even imagine how horrible he feels. Anyway the doc is worried about his throat swelling shut. So I am supposed to watch him like a hawk for breathing difficulties. Its just a viral infection so no meds to help other then alternating motrin/tylenol every 3 hours. Which I am supposed to do religiously for the first 3 days. Other than that he suggested Popsicles, ice cold juice, and avoiding dairy.  Right now Keaton is snuggled on the couch watching blues clues with his iced apple juice and some M&M’s I let him have out of sympathy. I’m told this could last 3-7 days. Lets hope its only three!

Adventures in Potty Training

Adventures in Potty Training

So it begins. We are taking it very slow. If history is any indication, this is going to take awhile. Most things in Gavin’s life has taken time. Every day I ask him if he wants to wear underwear or a diaper. Quite a few days he’s picked underwear. Usually mid day he wants to be back into a diaper, so we try a pull up for awhile. He has peed on the potty a few times this week. It’s progress. He gets panicky when he pees because it makes his feet wet. I wish he would hate pooping in his underwear too. He doesn’t seem to mind that at all. I on the other hand am getting so sick of cleaning underwear.

Daycare Germs

Last week when I showed up to drop my kids off at the gym they informed me there had been an outbreak of Hand, foot, and mouth disease. Five or so kids were already infected, but I was told that the entire place had been disinfected and should be safe. I decided to risk it and leave them there. Well its been over a week and they have been there nearly every day. I figured we were out of the clear, that was until Friday. Gavin seemed fine in the morning, he ran the aisles of wal-mart like a maniac. After eating our Subway sandwich lunch I drove home to get ready for the gym (I am super committed to weight loss people).

Updating my blog list

So I decided out of bordem to check my stats today. There are tons of bloggers visiting my site and I didn’t even know about them. If you don’t see your link on my blogroll on the sidebar to your right, its more than likely I don’t read your blog. I would love to be reading your it though, so leave me a comment with your blog address and I will add you!
