Monthly Archive for December, 2007
Sometimes I wonder why I keep this blog going. I have had literally 11 down times this year alone. This time it was that my CC info for my auto billing expired, so I wasn’t paying my bill. I’ve fixed it so we are good and good. Thanks to everyone that emailed me concerned. I am not bailing on my blog. Even if no one reads it and I only update it once a year I am keeping it. FYI I do most of my blogging through Flickr now. Get a flickr account (they’re free) and you can see updates nearly every day with pictures to go with them.
It used to be that I loved the baby stage over any stage. I did. They are adorable, sweet, and just so tender. This Christmas has changed my mind. I am so digging that my boys are grasping this whole Christmas idea. They are so into it. Everywhere we go Keaton points out “Snow” ‘snowman” “Santa” “nose” (for Rudolph), and Gavin sings all kinds of Christmas songs. Every morning they beg me to put in “chist-miss moo-vee”, because we have the entire collection of Christmas classics.

Dear Keaton,
The tree in our living room, however fascinating it may seem to you, is for Christmas only. It is not an apple tree. I repeat not an apple tree. This means no plucking ornaments off and collecting them in a laundry basket. Mommy is tried of having to re-decorate the tree. 12x’s a day. Also while we are on the topic of the Christmas tree, could you please try your best to refrain from climbing under it and knocking off branches? Please? I am not sure how much more the tree can take. Continue reading ‘Seriously, no S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y’
I’ve read a lot on the blog front recently about taking caution this Christmas season when selecting gifts for our children. Although I think lead paint, GHB, and entrapment issues are serious and should be addressed, I guess I just don’t love my kids enough to buy them wood toys. Why? Because wooden USofA made toys are pricey, simple, and only fun for the parents who think they are cute prior to handing them to their kid (if their kids are anything like mine, they like bright flashy things). Maybe your kid digs them, and that’s cool. You’ll save time having to scan the recalls every week. No wait, even toys made in the USofA of wood are recalled every year.
The truth is unless we are Santa with a workshop constructed entirely of USDA organic everything, we can’t assure our toys are safe. Hell, wood can give you splinters, that can carry staff or Tetanus. The world is a dangerous place people . We are putting our kids at risk every time we get in a car with them. Life has no guarantees. We can just live our lives the best we can, and try to not judge others who do the same.
So this Christmas will be plastic and cheap thanks to china and other countries who make this possible. What a good Christmas it will be too. the boys are getting a train table. Woot!
