Guts and glory

I swore I would never solicit my readers for dough. But, this is for such a worthy cause that I have to. On September 9th, 2006 I will join my sister Bek in San Fransisco to run in the “Gut’s & Glory 5K Walk” for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. (Gavin and Keaters will be joining me too). My super awesome sister has lived with Ulcerative Colitis for 10 years now. It is a truely debilitating disease. I hope and pray that in her lifetime we can find a cure. She is truly my hero and I admire how much strength she has.
Our goal as a team is to raise $1500, but my personal goal is to come up with $500 of that on my own. I can’t do this on my own though. If you have anything to spare to this worthy cause I would appreciate it so much. As an incentive, if you donate, Gavin will personally color a picture in your choice of crayon or marker. Come on, who wouldn’t want a hand drawn picture made by Mr. G himself? I am sure it will be worth money some day HA.
Anything you can spare even a dollar will aid researchers. Thanks so much for your help!

Month 21: Act your age

Cross eyed
My wee dearest Gavi-SmaGoo,
Some days I really miss when you were a baby. You were just this chubby larva that would just sit there playing with your toes, not yet able to master mind any evil doings. Its funny, because at that time I thought you were a challenge. Now? Well now you are hell on wheels and I’d give your dad’s left nut (not like he needs it or the right for that matter, any more) to go back before you had the irresistible urge to string together independent thoughts. It’s not fun having someone passionately disagreeing with you constantly. You love to do the exact opposite of what I say. Then to add fuel to the fire that is my fury, you sit back and smile at how pleased you are with yourself. You are definitely your mother’s child and I dig it. Afterall my goal was to raise an independent child who would question everything to become his own person. Well I got what I wanted.

I’m with the times

I signed up for a new cell phone plan with Cingular today. Anyone else have Cingular? Cause dude, we can so call each other for free. I am pretty stoked because now if I am driving on the freeway and see someone with a Nader bumper sticker, I don’t have to wait til I get home to share the news with John. I can just grab up my cell phone and call him on his new cell phone and tell him right then and there. Also my entire family is with the times and on Cingular. So we can all call each other for free and send each other silly pictures of our asses. It will rock!

I’m really out numbered

Well since giving our cat Miss Kitty to John’s sister, we decided it was time to get another cat. Then we thought, what the hell, let’s get two! So thats what we did.
Get back up there

They love to wrestle

Our new Kitty #1

New Kitty #2

Gavin digs them. But he treats them just about the same as he treats Keater. Pokes them, hits them, throws crap at them. So far they have been through 12 names a piece. We just can’t decide. Today I am calling them Cock and Sucker. But I doubt that will fly with the neighborhood kids when Gavin is yelling at his cats “come here Cock and Sucker”. Anyone have any ideas for names? We are desperate.

Use your words

I like to think that my child is a genius. I mean what mother doesn’t? I admit though, lately I am worried about Gavin’s speech, or lack there of. I know, I know, kids develop at their own rate. I get that. What worries me about Gavin not speaking is the fact that he used to know words, and now doesn’t. Or rather knows them, and chooses never to speak them again. He’s had the opposite of a word explosion. I looked back at all his monthly updates and read about all the words he spoke for that month (and that month only), and I growing increasingly concerned.

Happy Father’s day!

Dad looks happy
So although we didn’t do anything special today, I still wanted to wish you a happy father’s day! It also needs to be said that you are an exceptional father and we are so lucky to have you. We love you so much and all you do for us. Thank you for always putting up with all the chaos we put in your life!

The worlds most boring blog

So my blog has been the epitome of boring as of lately. I have a lot to say, just no time to type it out. My time is spent tending to the needs of the impatient duo. Mommy guilt keeps me busy taking Gavin to various parks every day so he can get out of the house. Keaton is awake a lot more now so he requires a lot more attention now too. Lucky for me he can’t resist the swing lulling him to sleep. So if I get too overwhelmed I just stick him in the swing and to sleep he goes. I wish that would work for Gavin, man can you imagine the free time I’d have? Some days I am half tempted to pull out the frozen breast-milk from when I was on percocet and give a little to both kids. I kid, I kid.

The Flooring is back

I am so glad its back!
John installed the flooring on Wednesday. It took almost 5 hours. It looks pretty good. It has some gaps in a few places where they didn’t snap into place like they should have. So we have to find some sort of sealant on it. John still hasn’t done the edging. So I just hope I don’t flood anything before we do.

Month 2: Another Day

DSC_8863_edited_resized
Okay, yeah, its been a whole week since you turned 2 months old and I am just now getting around to this. You are definitely to blame for this. For the last week you have been so needy for me to hold you. Ironically so is your brother. So I have one of you crying in your swing while the other hangs on my leg screaming “MAAAA”, like it is the end of the world. What you and your brother don’t realize is that there is plenty of room for both of you on my lap if you’ll just be patient. Of course there is no explaining patience to either one of you so I just end up screaming “JUST A MINUTE” to both of you. I think we all could use a valium some days.
